Episode Transcription

Hi! Welcome to She’s Wild, the podcast for women and land in development. I'm your host, Nancy Surak. This is the first episode of She's Wild. And it's my why, why I created this podcast. You see, I became a land broker about 20 years ago on the west coast of Florida. And I absolutely love what I do. I love helping a landowner, and I love being part of development teams and putting awesome deals together. But when I first got into this business, it was very, very common for me to be the only woman in the room. And I was okay with that. I've personally never had an issue with that I was raised to think you know what, I belong there, and I'm good. But fast forward 20 years, I find myself not always, but often only one of two or three women in big deal rooms. And I want to make sure that I change this.

I have heard the statement, you can't be her if you can't see her. And I'm not sure that that's 100% accurate. I do think you can be her, even if you can't see her. But I also believe that if you can see her, more of us can be her. And that's what this is all about. I am here to collect conversations of leading professional women in the land and development industry, that are working across North America on all different types of projects. And I'm here to help them share their stories. I'm interviewing women and learning all about their career stories, and what they think it takes to be successful in this business. And I'm sharing it on this platform. My goal is that a young woman will either learn about our industry and decide to come and join us or that more women who were in junior levels of our industry will step up their game and step forward to join us at the table. I am so excited to be here. I have done a bunch of the recordings already even though this is my first episode. And I know you're gonna love it. I have loved getting to know these women all over North America. And I can't wait to see where this goes.

Thank you for joining us for another episode of she's while the podcast for women and land and development. If you enjoyed today's show, please go out and rate us so that we can be found by other women in our industry. And if you know women who are working in land and development, please share this podcast with them. And if you know a total rock star woman, badass chick who is killing it in land and development anywhere in North America, I want to know who she is. Please reach out to me so that I can feature her on an upcoming episode.
